Elevate Your Dental Career

Advance your dental career with our comprehensive continuing education courses in Columbus, Ohio. At First Impressions Dental Assisting, we offer a range of specialized training programs to enhance your skills and keep you at the forefront of dental healthcare. Our courses provide the knowledge and hands-on experience you need to excel in your profession and meet Ohio’s licensing requirements. Whether you’re a recent graduate or an experienced dental assistant, our expert-led programs will help you stay competitive in the dynamic field of dental care.

CPR

Attain the skills and abilities to recognize and assist in common medical emergencies with CPR/AED training and renewal. You will attain a 2-year certification through the American Red Cross. No previous experience or materials are required.

Our CPR/AED training is not just about theory–it’s about preparing you for real-life situations. We provide a detailed explanation of various medical emergencies and the best ways to respond to them, including hands-on practice in scenario-based training, ensuring you’re ready to act when it matters most.

Students enrolled in the 10-week program pay no additional cost, but consumers will be charged $95 to cover the cost of their 2-year certification and the instructor’s time.

We can come to your workplace to train staff members, 4H clubs, school groups, church groups, and more. Having all your team members on the same renewal schedule ensures no one lapses in certification. You can schedule the renewal during work hours, simplifying scheduling and payment.

RADIOLOGY

We provide required training for students and current dental assistants to receive their radiographer license in Ohio. With a dental assistant radiographer’s license, you can take intraoral and extraoral images from the direction of a state-licensed dentist in a dental office setting.

Our 10-week program includes a 7-hour, state-approved course and over 8 hours of valuable hands-on training. This practical experience is crucial for students to secure their dental assistant radiographer’s license with the state of Ohio, which is a top job requirement for dental assistants in the state.

The cost of the course is included in our 10-week program, and there are no prerequisites for students enrolled in the 10-week program.

Experienced dental assistants can also take the course and get their license. The fee is $150 for current dental assistants, and the course requires proof of employment at a dental office. No hands-on training is provided to students not in the 10-week course program, and certificates will not be given during the course. As a current dental assistant, you must have an affidavit signed by your supervising dentist within 60 days of completing the 7-hour course.

Our students must subject the $35.50 (subject to change through the state of Ohio) directly to the state on the last day of the course. We also provide an online, self-guided 2-hour CE course for $75.

If you have a pending court case, you will need to contact the state directly at (614) 466-2580 to see if this will prevent you from obtaining your dental assistant radiographer’s license.

Registered Dental Assisting Exam

Graduates of this 10-week program are eligible to sit for the American Medical Technologist Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) exam. This would be the first step to take after graduation to be eligible for further continuing education courses such as sealants, nitrous monitoring, coronal polish, and EFDA.

All of the content is included in our course, along with free study material provided upon graduation from the program.

CDA

National certification through the Dental Assisting National Board is one option for becoming eligible for higher continuing education courses such as Sealants and EFDA. Graduates must work for two years prior to being eligible to sit for this exam. The AMT exam is a quicker route to obtaining certification and will allow you to take the same courses.
